After accumulating over 22 million streams on Spotify, rising singer-songwriter Boy In Space has finally gained the recognition he deserves. His work rate and musical talent go hand in hand with the consistent chain of single releases such as “7UP”, “Cold”, “Drown” and his latest single entitled “On A Prayer“.The single “On A Prayer “ showcases his ability to paint a vivid insight to his personal and intimate life experience.

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Boy in Space to discuss being on tour, biggest musical influences and more.

Q: Why did you decide to go with the name Boy In Space?
A: At first, my name was "Space Boy" it was more of a nickname because I can be very spacey and all over the place. I used to be in a band with my brothers. I began to think and dream about creating more solo music, that space became a place where I could express myself, which I hadn't been able to do before.

Who are your biggest musical influences?
It's all over the place. I love Post Malone, The 1975, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and The Killers.

Describe the creative process of your latest track On A Prayer and how did the collaborations with Shy Martin come about?
We wrote, "On A Prayer" on this mindset of being nostalgic about a relationship that went wrong. In the song process, I was joking around pretending to be a country artist. I came up with a melody, which we all looked at each other and said, "Ok that was maybe kind of okay?" I've been a fan of SHY Martin for so long, probably since "The Ocean" came out, and it was one of those songs where while you're writing it, you can hear another artist's voice on the track. I sent her a demo and I was very glad that she said yes to being apart of it. It won't be the last song that we do together.

How is your experience being tour support to Alex Benjamin's Europe tour?
It was amazing. I've been a fan of Alec's songwriting and music for a long time. His fans are truly the best in the world. I had so much fun meeting so many of them across Europe, and it made me really excited to hopefully do my tour in Europe next year.

What can we expect from you in the future?
I'm working on a lot of new music. I have a track coming out in January. I hope to put out an EP next year and tour more in Europe and the US.
